The Art of Making.

NGKnives was born not from a business plan, but from survival.

This journey started with a man who was broken, caught in the silent storm of suicidal ideation, wearing the mask that so many do. He still showed up to work, still put on his boots, but inside, he was barely hanging on. Blacksmithing became the one thing that kept him going. Forging steel was his therapy in disguise, a place to channel the pain, process the weight, and begin to rebuild.

From that fire, NGKnives was created - not just as a workshop, but as a space for connection, honesty, and healing. We’ve come to understand that being able to show up every day doesn’t mean someone is okay. We know what it looks like to be quietly struggling. And that’s why we do what we do.

Whether you come to us by choice or via a gift from a loved one, or just to be in a place where you’re seen and understood you are welcome here. This is more than a business. It’s a safe space. Its purpose. It’s proof that even broken things can be forged into something strong and lasting.

You can sit with us.

NGKnives: The Art of Making
is Australia’s leading hub for knifemaking, blacksmithing, and hands-on maker experiences.

“Me and a group of 3 mates did the 3-day Damascus course, and I can say without a doubt, it was the greatest experience we’ve ever had”.

We deliver professionally run, hands-on experiences led by skilled makers, offering everything from foundational bladesmithing to specialised pop-up workshops across a range of heat-based art mediums.

Whether you’re brand new or looking to refine your skills, our workshops are built to educate, inspire, and deliver something you can take pride in.

Three-Day Intensive Damascus Workshop

“No mistakes, just smaller knives”.

There is no glass ceiling in our forge and no one to compete with. Mistakes don’t exist here; only learning, refinement, and progress.

Every class is taught at your pace, and you will never leave without a completed tool you’re proud of. The only limit is your willingness to learn.
